Ragna Kjartansdóttir, known as Cell7, is a multifaceted rapper, singer, and sound engineer. A pioneer in the Icelandic rap scene, she serves as an inspiration to both established artists and women entering the genre.
Cell7 radiates the confidence of an established artist while embracing the energy of a rising star. Her performances showcase a remarkable range and versatility, as she seamlessly blends rapping, singing, and producing some of her own tracks. With a deep sense of soul, strength, and insight, she captivates audiences with infectious grooves and compelling melodies, ready to challenge any preconceived notions about Icelandic music.
Her solo journey took off in 2013 with the release of Cellf—an album that didn’t just turn heads, but earned her the Kraumur Music Award, cementing her place as a powerhouse in the industry.
She followed up with Is Anybody Listening? a critically acclaimed album that scored a Nordic Music Prize 2019 nomination and took home the Icelandic Music Award for Hip Hop and Rap Album of the Year. The album also racked up nominations for Hip Hop Song of the Year (Peachy) and Album Cover of the Year.
Now, Cell7 is back with her highly anticipated third album, Deep Cuts—a stunning collection of nine tracks that push her sound even further. Five singles have already made waves, including It’s Complicated, nominated for Hip Hop Song of the Year 2020 and produced by Arnar Ingi (Young Nazareth). Thinking Hard features a soulful collaboration with Moses Hightower, whileFix It, U-N-I, and All My Friends showcase her dynamic partnership with Kristinn Gunnar Blöndal. The dreamy Nightsky, produced by Magnús Jóhann, rounds out the album with atmospheric brilliance.
